Information Forum and Literary Studies Colloquium at Nordischer Klang

Since 1991, the organisers of the Nordischer Klang cultural festival, in close cooperation with the Department of Finnish and Scandinavian Studies at the University of Greifswald, have brought a varied multi-genre programme to the stages of Greifswald: music from all genres, stage art, exhibitions, films and literature.

The Information Forum has been an important part of the festival for many years. This refers to a series of lectures organised by the language teaching units at the Department of Finnish and Scandinavian Studies. One guest speaker each from Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden speaks on a topic that goes beyond the narrow curriculum of a language degree course and offers students and lecturers first-hand knowledge of the respective countries. Thus, information forums on topics such as "Comics", "Tourism in the North" or "Culture and Food in the North" have been offered in recent years. In 2011, a colloquium on literary studies was integrated into the existing structure of the Information Forum for the first time. The colloquium is supported financially by the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald and is implemented in the literary studies modules of the master's degree course in Scandinavian Studies at the University of Greifswald. Since 2011, the lectures of the literary studies Information Forum have been published in the spring issue of the Scandinavian Studies journal EJSS under the heading Nordischer Klang and can be read there.
