Nordsångare - The Choir of the Department of Finnish and Scandinavian Studies

We, the Nordsångare (Swedish for “Arctic warbler”, literally “north singers”) practise a programme of Danish, Faroese, Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Estonian songs every semester - in the summer semester for the Midsummer festival and in the winter semester for the Lucia festival at the Department of Finnish and Scandinavian Studies.

The choir can also be attended as a component of various regional studies modules. However, there is no possibility of taking an examination. Instead, the examination must be taken in the other attended class of the module. Further information on the relevant modules can be found in the study guide [de] and in the LSF under “4009316: Chorgesang und -literatur des Nordens”.

Nordsångare

Lucia 2025

In winter semester 2025/26, we once again celebrated the traditional Lucia festival at our Department - and the Nordsångare accompanied the Swedish bringer of light with the appropriate Nordic music accompaniment. Of course, this always works best if as many people as possible join in!

We always welcome new members and as many singers as possible.

Varmt välkomna!
