Study in Greifswald to Become a Danish, Norwegian or Swedish Teacher

Teaching training for Gymnasium (secondary school up to year 12) and Regionale Schule (secondary school up to year 10)
At the University of Greifswald, it is possible to study to become a teacher for Danish, Norwegian or Swedish. Teacher-training courses for Gymnasium and Regionale Schule are on offer. The degree course consists of two main subjects - for example English and History - and can be supplemented by Danish, Norwegian or Swedish as a third subject. It is possible to choose a Scandinavian language as a third subject if German or a modern foreign language has been chosen as one of the two main subjects. The modularised degree course is completed with the erstes Staatsexamen (1st State Examination).
Contents of the degree course
In the subjects Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, in-depth knowledge is acquired in the areas of
of the chosen Scandinavian language. Students learn to work independently on academic topics in these areas, using subject-specific methods. In addition, they acquire near-native language skills during the degree course and learn to use these together with intercultural communication and practical skills. The degree course aims to impart all the knowledge and skills that are important for becoming a successful teacher at secondary schools up to year 12 or year 10 (Gymansium or Regionale Schule).
Course structure and provisions for the degree course
The examination and study regulations provide information on the module structure and content as well as provisions for the degree course. The Gemeinsame Prüfungs- und Studienordnung für die modularisierten Lehramtsstudiengänge (Joint Examination and Study Regulations for the Modularised Teaching Degree Courses) and the Rahmenprüfungsordnung (General Examination Regulations) must also be observed.
Timetable and study organisation
The course timetable provides an insight into the current range of classes on offer as well as information on which specific classes can be assigned to which module from the examination and study regulations in the respective semester.
Special subject features
The subjects Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are offered as additional examination subjects (Erweiterungsprüfung (supplementary examination)) without subject-specific didactics in accordance with § 4 of the LehPrVO M-V. They can therefore only be taken if another examined language subject is studied together with subject-specific didactics as the first or second subject.
